Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent (wearing the Kent Pearl Circle Bandeau, her Bow Brooch, and the Royal Family Order of King George VI) attends a glittering Ball hosted by Alderman Adrian Hopkins at the newly restored Assembly Rooms in Bath on this day in 1938, following a visit to the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases. The historic Georgian Assembly Rooms were restored by Oliver Messel, and destroyed by a bomb in 1942 during the Blitz, before being restored and reopened in 1963. The Marquess and Marchioness of Bath (wearing the Bath Tiara) were also present.
