British State Visit to Malaysia, 1989

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh are hosted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak, and Raja Permaisuri Agong Bainun of Malaysia in Ipoh, the capital of the Perak Sultanate, during their State Visit to Malaysia on this day in 1989, the highlight of which was the State Banquet hosted by the King and Queen (wearing the Gandik Diraja Tiara) in honour of the Queen (in the Girls of Great Britain & Ireland Tiara) and Duke of Edinburgh at the Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.

Other events included a series of events in Kuala Lumpur, including a visit to the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shan Mosque, finished off with a Return Banquet hosted by the Queen (wearing the Modern Sapphire Tiara and George VI Sapphire Parure) and Duke of Edinburgh for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong at the Royal Yacht Britannia.
