Happy Birthday to Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway, third in line to the Norwegian Throne, who turns 13 today! The second son of Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, he is the younger brother of Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and the only grandson of King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway. His godparents include Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece, and Princess Rosario of Bulgaria. After starting kindergarten in Asker in 2007, he attended the Jansløkka elementary school, and is currently at the Oslo Montessori school. Prince Sverre Magnus does not undertake official events, but does appear at family occasions, like Constitution Day, King Harald and Queen Sonja’s 50th Anniversary, and most famously, King Harald and Queen Sonja’s 80th Birthday Banquet, when he gained notoriety for ‘dabbing’ on the balcony of the Royal Palace of Oslo. I wish HH a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!

I find Prince Sverre Magnus to be the spitting image of his great-grandfather King Olav. If you look at black and white pictures of both of them aged 11 or 12, you’d be hard-pressed to tell them apart! I wish him joy on his birthday!
