After welcoming them at an Official Welcome Ceremony earlier that day, the Queen (wearing the Burmese Ruby Tiara and the Order of the Crown of the Realm) and members of the Royal Family hosted a State Banquet for King Azlan Shah and Queen Bainun of Malaysia (in the Gandik Diraja Tiara) at Buckingham Palace on this day in 1993. Other attendees included the Queen Mother (in the Greville Tiara, Queen Alexandra’s Wedding Necklace, and the Order of the Garter), Princess of Wales (wearing Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara), Princess Royal (in Princess Andrew’s Meander Tiara), the Earl of Wessex, and Margaret Rhodes.

Two days later, the Malaysian King and Queen hosted a Return Banquet at Claridges Hotel for their British Royal hosts, including the Queen (wearing Queen Alexandra’s Kokoshnik Tiara) and Duke of Edinburgh, Princess of Wales (in the Spencer Tiara,Queen Mary’s Art Deco Emerald Choker, and the Royal Family Order of Queen Elizabeth II), Duke and Duchess of Gloucester (wearing the Gloucester Honeysuckle Tiara), Princess Alexandra of Kent (in the Ogilvy Tiara), the Duke and Duchess of Kent (wearing the Kent Pearl and Diamond Fringe Tiara), and Prince and Princess Michael of Kent (in the Kent Festoon Tiara).
