Swedish State Visit to Britain, 1975

Our prediction and wish for an upcoming Dutch State Visit to the United Kingdom are coming to fruition later this year, and now we are hoping for a Swedish State Visit by flashing back to the last visit on this day in 1975. Quite rarely, the visit took place in Scotland, with a glittering State Banquet hosted by the Queen (wearing Queen Alexandra’s Kokoshnik Tiara and the Order of the Seraphim) and Duke of Edinburgh (in the Order of the Seraphim) at the Palace of Holyrood House in Edinburgh for King Carl XVI Gustaf (wearing the Royal Victorian Chain). Other Royals included the Queen Mother (in the Greville Tiara and the Order of the Thistle), Prince of Wales (wearing the Order of the Seraphim), Princess Margretha of Sweden (in the and the Order of the Seraphim), Princess Margaret (wearing the Poltimore Tiara and the Royal Victorian Order), the Duke (in the Order of the Seraphim) and Duchess of Gloucester (wearing the Gloucester Honeysuckle Tiara), and Lord Mountbatten (in the Order of the Seraphim).

King Carl Gustaf also hosted a Return Dinner for the Queen (wearing the Girls of Great Britain & Ireland Tiara) and Duke of Edinburgh, Queen Mother (wearing the Oriental Circlet Tiara), Lord Mountbatten, and the Princess Royal (in her Festoon Tiara).
