In the morning, the Royal Family attended the King (wearing the Star of the Order of the Garter and the Star of the Order of the Thistle) and Queen’s (in the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter and her Royal Family Orders) Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, with guests including Queen Mary (wearing the the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter and her Royal Family Orders), Princess Elizabeth (in the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter) and the Duke of Edinburgh (wearing the Star of the Order of the Garter and her Royal Family Orders), Princess Margaret (wearing her Royal Family Orders), the Duke (in the Star of the Order of the Garter and the Star of the Order of the Thistle) and Duchess of Gloucester (wearing the Sash and Star of the Order of the British Empire and her Royal Family Orders) with Prince William, the Duchess of Kent (in the Sash and Star of the Order of the British Empire and her Royal Family Orders) and her children among other members of the Royal Family.

Afterwards, the King and Queen rode through the streets of London in a carriage with Princess Margaret, followed by Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh in another carriage and members of the Royal Family in cars.

Upon their return to Buckingham Palace, the Royal Family waved to the crowds from the Balcony, returning multiple times throughout the day.

  1. I’m surprised not to see Princess Mary, the Princess Royal, in any of the pictures. Maybe she didn’t attend? Maybe she was still in mourning for her late husband? I also didn’t see young Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, in the balcony scene. Maybe because he was too young at 12? Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother is wearing what appears to be Queen Victoria’s fringe brooch, one of my favorites!

    1. I think I spotted Princess Mary, the Princess Royal in the video, behind Queen Mary, but since I didn’t see her face, I didn’t add her in the list! I think Kents maybe went home rather than to the Palace, since his mother wasn’t on the balcony either!
