Belgian State Visit to India- Day 2

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are on 7-day State Visit to India, from November 5th to 11th, to strengthen political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries. Click HERE for Day 1.

On the morning of November 7th, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were officially welcomed by President and the Prime Minister on India in a Ceremonial Welcome Ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidential Palace) in Delhi. King Philippe inspected the guard, which was followed by a wreath laying ceremony and a minute of silence at Raj Ghat, where Gandhi was cremated.

Afterwards, King Philippe called on by the Indian External Affairs Minister, had an Official Meeting and Working Luncheon with Prime Minister Modi, during which they witnessed the exchange of agreements between Belgian and Indian delegations, at Hyderabad House, and attended a wreath laying ceremony and Last Post at the India Gate Memorial. King Philippe also gave the closing remarks of the Indo-Belgian Working Session on Sustainable Cities, and was called on by the Indian Vice-President. Meanwhile, Queen Mathilde visited a Microfinance project, had Luncheon with the First Lady of India, Mrs Savita Kovind, and visited a Child Line call center in Gurugram.

   

In the evening, President Ram Nath Kovind and Mrs Savita Kovind hosted a State Banquet in honour of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Both the King and President gave speeches and toasts.

King Philippe wore a black suit with a striped tie. Queen Mathilde wore a pink lace dress with a Fabienne Delvigne hat and her Leysen pink stone earrings, later changing into a blue and gold Anita Dongre maxi dress. In the evening, King Philippe wore Black Tie. Queen Mathilde wore a pink and gold gown with her new Diamond Tassel Earrings and a diamond bracelet.

  1. Queen Mathilde’s diamond tassel earrings are so beautiful! And that pink sparkly dress is super flattering. I can’t say the same about the pink dress she wore earlier in the day. I don’t know who designed that dress (probably Natan), but whoever it is, he/she is not a friend. The blue printed dress she wore later in the day was very excellent though!

    1. I agree with you! The evening gown is absolutely stunning! Some of the intricate work is just exquisite! The blue dress is also beautiful, and I’ve seen similar critique of the pink welcome dress, but didn’t see it in that way until your comment. Hopefully she doesn’t repeat it!
