Happy Birthday to Princess Mabel of Orange-Nassau! The daughter of Hendrik Los and Florence Kooman, she studied at the Gemeentelijk Gymnasium in Hilversum and the University of Amsterdam. In 2004, she married Prince Friso, the younger son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. The couple had two daughters, Countess Luana and Countess Zaria, before Prince Friso was critically injured in a skiing accident in 2012. He tragically died in 2013, having never woken up from his coma. Princess Mabel does not undertake official duties, but attends family events, including the recent celebrations in Norway, and has continued her work as a prominent human rights activist. She is the chair of Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage, and the co-chair of the European Council on Foreign Relations. I wish HRH a very Happy Birthday and Many Happy Returns!
