Wedding of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Princess Ingrid of Sweden, 1935

The Wedding of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, son of King Christian X and Queen Alexandrine of Denmark, and Princess Ingrid of Sweden, daughter of Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden and Princess Margaret of Connaught, at the Storkyrkan (St. Nicholas) Cathedral in Stockholm on this day in 1935, Swedish Lutheran Ceremony officiated by Archbishop Erling Eidem. The Ceremony followed days of celebrations including a Banquet hosted by her grandfather, King Gustav, and a Gala Performance.

Following the ceremony, the Crown Prince and new Crown Princess rode in a Carriage Procession through the streets of Stockholm towards the Royal Palace, where they has a a Wedding Breakfast following a Balcony Appearance. In the afternoon, the couple set off on the Danish Royal Yacht Dannebrog for Copenhagen, where they presided over a series of celebrations before departing on their honeymoon to the South of France. The wedding between the Crown Prince of Denmark and the Swedish Princess was not a political alliance, but a love match. The couple, who succeeded to the Danish Throne in 1947, had three daughters, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, Princess Bendikte of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, and Queen Anne Marie of Greece, and remained happily married until his death in 1972. Queen Ingrid died in 2000.
