The Duke of Edinburgh conducted his final official solo engagement when he attended a Parade to mark the finale of the 1664 Global Challenge at the Buckingham Palace Forecourt on August 2nd. The Duke of Edinburgh has gone into retirement and though he may attend some engagements with the Queen, he will not accept any invitations henceforth. The Duke was appointed Captain General of the Royal Marines on 2nd June 1953, in succession to the late King George VI. Wedding of Prince Hans-Adam of Liechtenstein

Happy 50th Anniversary to Prince Hans-Adam II and Princess Marie of Liechtenstein, who got married on this day in 1967. The couple have four children, and became the reigning Prince and Princess of Liechtenstein in 1989, eventually passing over most of their official duties in 2004 to their eldest son and his wife, to lead a life in quiet retirement. Wedding of Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer

The Prince of Wales married Lady Diana Spencer at St. Paul’s Cathedral on this day in 1981, in what was dubbed the ‘Wedding of the Century’. The couple had two sons, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry, but separated in 1992, eventually divorcing in 1996. The former Princess of Wales tragically died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, while the Prince of Wales married Camilla Parker-Bowles in 2005. Duke of Cambridge’s last shift with East Anglia Air Ambulance

The Duke of Cambridge completed his last shift with the East Anglian Air Ambulance on July 27th at Cambridge Airport. The Duke joined EAAA as an Air Ambulance pilot in March 2015. Over the last two years, The Duke has enjoyed the opportunity to connect directly with the community of East Anglia and has valued being part of a team that provides such a critical and often life-saving public service.
