The Duke of Edinburgh conducted his final official solo engagement when he attended a Parade to mark the finale of the 1664 Global Challenge at the Buckingham Palace Forecourt on August 2nd. The Duke of Edinburgh has gone into retirement and though he may attend some engagements with the Queen, he will not accept any invitations henceforth. The Duke was appointed Captain General of the Royal Marines on 2nd June 1953, in succession to the late King George VI. Continue reading
