Foreign Royal Guests and Relatives joined the British Royal Family for the Committal Service for Queen Elizabeth II at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on September 19th, following the Funeral at Westminster Abbey and a Procession through London. The late Queen, who passed away at Balmoral Castle earlier this month, had been Lying-in-State first at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh and then at Westminster Hall in London for the past week.   Continue reading

Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Foreign Royal Guests and Relatives and Heads of State and Representatives of 121 Countries joined the British Royal Family for the Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on September 19th, followed by a Procession to Marble Arch and a Committal Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The late Queen, who passed away at Balmoral Castle earlier this month, had been Lying-in-State first at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh and then at Westminster Hall in London for the past week.

Heads of State Reception at Buckingham Palace

Ahead of the Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey tomorrow, the British Royal Family hosted a Reception for visiting Heads of State and Representatives at Buckingham Palace, which is stated to be one of the largest gatherings of Heads of State in History. The late Queen, who passed away at Balmoral Castle earlier this month, has been Lying-in-State first at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh and then at Westminster Hall in London for the past week, with the Funeral at Westminster Abbey tomorrow to be followed by a Procession to Marble Arch and a Committal Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Grand Duchess Adélaïde Tiara

Today marks the 80th Anniversary of the Death of Grand Duchess Maria-Ana of Luxembourg, who died on this in 1941! Born Infanta Maria-Ana of Portugal, daughter of the deposed King Miguel of Portugal, she grew up in the Austro-Hungarian Empire before marrying the Grand Duke of Luxembourg and having six daughters, two of whom became Grand Duchesses, among them Grand Duchess Charlotte. After serving as Regent of Luxembourg between 1908 to 1912, Grand Duchess Maria-Ana lived mainly at Schloss Hohenburg in Bavaria, before joining the Grand Ducal Family when they fled Europe into exile in the United States, where she passed away in 1942.
