Happy Birthday to Crown Princess Himani Shah of Nepal, who celebrates her 50th Birthday today! The Princess of Sikar who is a leading Social Worker married to the Crown Prince of the former Kingdom of Nepal, Crown Princess Himani has retained this striking Diamond Tiara!
But first, let’s learn about Crown Princess Himani! The daughter of Shri Rao Raja Vikram Singh, the 12th Raja of Sikar and Kumari Bipula Singh of Bajhang. Princess Himani Singh of Sikar completed her intermediate education in commerce, and married Prince Paras, nephew of the then King Birendra in 2000. The couple have three children; Princess Purnika, Prince Hridayendra, and Princess Kritika. When her father-in-law became the King of Nepal after the Nepalese Royal Massacre in 2001, she became the Crown Princess of Nepal, serving until the Monarchy was abolished in 2008. Since then, the Crown Princess and her children moved frist to Singapore and then the United States before retiring to Nepal, where she founded the the Himani Trust, a non-profit and apolitical non-governmental organization which works towards uplifting the quality of life in important sectors such as sustainable livelihood, children, education, health, senior citizens, environment and natural disasters. Princess Himani notably wore the Diamond Tiara when the wed Prince Paras of Nepal in 2000. The piece was likely a wedding gift, though it not known if it was from the Royal Family of from her own family.
In 2003, it seems that Crown Princess Himani wore her Diamond Tiara as a Necklace for the Wedding of her sister-in-law, Princess Prerana.
The Diamond Necklace was also worn for an Official Ceremony, this time paired with a large Diamond Tiara believed to have come from her own grandmother, Princess Trailokya, who was the daughter of King Tribhuvan.
Crown Princess Himani retained the Diamond Tiara after the fall of the Nepalese Monarchy and notably wore the Tiara for the Bratabandha Ceremony of her only son, Prince Hridayendra, in 2017.
Most recently, Crown Princess Himani’s Diamond Tiara was worn by her daughter, Princess Purnika for her 21st Birthday Gala in 2021, and lets hope we see this striking piece worn again soon.
