The Royal Family celebrated the re-opening of the Royal Opera House following the Second World War on this day in 1946, 80 years ago, with a Gala Performance of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ by the Sadler’s Wells Ballet Company in Covent Garden.
Queen Mary joined King George VI, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Elizabeth, Princess Margaret in the Royal Box for the Gala Performance of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ by the Sadler’s Wells Ballet Company, to mark the re-opening of the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, following the Second World War.
Queen Elizabeth wore the Teck Diamond Hoop Tiara with the Coronation Earrings and Queen Adelaide’s Diamond Brooch.
Queen Mary wore the Iveagh Tiara.
