Princess Lalla Asma’s Chaumet Tiara

Happy Birthday to Princess Lalla Asma of Morocco, who turns 60 today! The accomplished Princess, the younger sister of the Moroccan King, received this spectacular Gold and Diamond Chaumet Tiara as a Wedding Gift from her father, King Hassan II, in 1987!

When Princess Lalla Asma married Khalid Bouchentouf in 1987, she received this spectacular Gold and Diamond Tiara in a striking modern design as a gift from her father, King Hassan II of Morocco, which was likely made by Chaumet, similar to her elder sister, Princess Lalla Meryem.

The Tiara, along with an identical mirrored necklace and a pair of coordinating earrings, was first worn by the Princess Lalla Asma on her Wedding Day in Marrakesh.

However, unlike her sisters, it does not appear that Princess Lalla Asma wore the piece for the Wedding of her brother, King Mohammed VI of Morocco, at the Dar al-Makhzin in Rabat in 2002, and since the Moroccan Princesses have decided not to wear Tiaras at State Banquets it is not known if we will ever see this Tiara worn again!
