Wedding of Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, 12th Duchess of Montoro, 1998

María Eugenia Martínez de Irujo y Fitz-James Stuart, 12th Duchess of Montoro, the only daughter of  Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, 18th Duchess of Alba and Luis Martínez de Irujo y Artázcoz, married matador Francisco Rivera Ordóñez at Seville Cathedral on this day in 1998, 25 years ago, no doubt followed by a Reception at the Palacio de Las Duenas. The couple had one daughter, Doña Cayetana Rivera y Martínez de Irujo, before their divorce in 2002. The Duchess of Montoro remarried in 2017 to Narcís Rebollo Melció, president of Universal Music Spain and Portugal.

Guests included several members of the Spanish Nobility, who were led by Infanta Elena of Spain, along with Jaime de Marichalar y Sáenz de Tejada, to whom the bride curtsied at the end of the ceremony.

The Duchess of Montoro wore the striking Empress Eugénie’s Pearl Tiara, which originates from Empress Eugénie of France, a family ancestor, and was inherited by the Duchess of Montoro upon the death of the Duchess of Alba in 2014.
