The Wedding of Princess Xenia of Prussia, the daughter of Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia and Grand Duchess Kira Kirillovna of Russia (wearing the Prussian Meander Tiara), and Swedish Businessman Per Edvard Lythander in Borgfeld on this day in 1973, following a Civil Ceremony in Bremen. The couple had two sons before their divorce in 1978. From the NYT:
BONN, Jan. 26—Princess Xenia Sophie Charlotte Cecilie of Prussia, 23 years old, was married today to Per Edvard Lythander, 27, a Swedish businessman, in a simple ceremony performed by a justice of the peace in Bremen.
The bride, who has just completed examinations as a gymnastics teacher, was attended by her father, Prince Louis Ferdinand, grandson of the last Hohenzollern monarch, Kaiser Wilhem II. Princess Xenia wore a blue jacket dress made by a Bremen couturier, Dieter Mike. Tomorrow she will wear a cream coloured silk bridal gown for a church ceremony in nearby Borgfeld, where she was born.
