Following their Wedding Gala and the Wedding of Prince Gustav Adolf of Sweden and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha in Coburg the previous month, King Gustav V and Swedish Royal Family hosted a Gala Performance for newlyweds Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten and Princess Sibylla at the Kungliga Operan in Stockholm on this day in 1932.
The Royal Family were led by King Gustav V, along with Crown Prince Gustaf VI Adolf and Crown Princess Louise (in the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure), with Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten and Princess Sibylla (wearing the Swedish Cameo Parure) as the guests of honour, while Princess Ingrid (later Queen of Denmark) (in the Khedive of Egypt Tiara and her Diamond Pendant), Princess Ingeborg (wearing the Napoleonic Emerald Parure) and members of the Swedish Royal Family and Aristocracy were also present. A similar Gala was held three years later for the Wedding of Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Princess Ingrid of Sweden.
A gala performance at the Opera, attended by the king and the entire royal family as well as everything that Stockholm has in terms of diplomacy and society. The first act of “Lohengrin”, the ballet “The Sylphs” and the fourth act of “The Marriage of Figaro” were performed with opera director Forsell in his old role.

The royal ladies wore evening gowns with tiaras & long trains. Crown Princess Louise wore an inherited train in silver lamé that she'd brought from the UK while Princess Sibylla wore her wedding dress with a gold embroidered pink velvet train that her mother had bought in Vienna.
