Qatar State Visit to Spain

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are hosting Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al Thani, on a 2-day State Visit to Spain to strengthen political, economic, and diplomatic ties, from May 17th to the 18th.

In the morning, King Felipe and Queen Letizia officially welcomed the Emir of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al Thani in an Official Welcome Ceremony in the courtyard of the Royal Palace in Madrid. During the ceremony, the King and the President reviewed a battalion of the Royal Guard and viewed a parade. The Spanish Royal Couple then had a meeting with the Emir and Sheikha and were introduced to the Qatari Delegation. Later, the King and Queen hosted a luncheon at the Palace of La Zarzuela, following a meeting between the King and the Emir.

In the evening, King Felipe (in the Order of the Golden Fleece) and Queen Letizia (wearing Order of Charles III) hosted a State Banquet in honour of the the Emir of Qatar and Sheikha Jawaher Bint Hamad Bin Suhaim Al Thani at the Royal Palace of Madrid. Both the King and Emir gave speeches.

  1. Ok, a State Dinner in Spain and no tiaras. If this is what it’s going to be like from now on it’s going to be a very sad state of affairs. 🙁
