Italian State Visit to Spain

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain are hosting President Sergio Mattarella of Italy and his daughter, Laura Mattarella, on a 2-day State Visit to Spain to strengthen political, economic, and diplomatic ties, from November 16th to the 17th.

In the morning, King Felipe and Queen Letizia officially welcomed President Sergio Mattarella and Laura Mattarella in an Official Welcome Ceremony in the courtyard of the Royal Palace in Madrid. During the ceremony, the King and the President reviewed a battalion of the Royal Guard and viewed a parade. The Spanish Royal Couple then had a meeting with the President and his daughter and were introduced to the Italian Delegation. Later, the King and Queen hosted a luncheon at the Palace of La Zarzuela, following a meeting between the King and the President.

In the evening, King Felipe (in the Collar, Sash and Star of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic) and Queen Letizia (wearing Queen Maria Christina’s Loop Tiara, with the Diamond Collet Necklace, Gray Pearl Brooch and Bracelet from the Joyas de Pasar and the Sash and Star of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic) hosted a State Banquet in honour of the President Sergio Mattarella and Laura Mattarella at the Royal Palace of Madrid. Both the King and President gave speeches.
