Queen Mathilde at Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition 2021

Every year, Queen Mathilde of Belgium is heavily involved with the various events for the Queen Elisabeth Competition, and after it was cancelled last year due to the ongoing pandemic, this year, she has again been involved with the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition, recording a video message, watching the semi final with her children, being the only member of the audience to watch the semi finals, and then having a digital meeting with the six finalists. The Queen Elisabeth Competition is an international competition for career-starting musicians, classical violinists, pianists, singers and cellists, held in Brussels, named after Queen Elisabeth of Belgium. Since its foundation in 1937, it is considered one of the most challenging and prestigious competitions for instrumentalists.

For the past week, Queen Mathilde has been attending the six finale concerts (being joined by King Philippe for the first), at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium, also known as BOZAR in French or PSK in Dutch. The Queen has worn a variety of stunning gowns along with Queen Fabiola’s Aquamarine Earrings, Queen Fabiola’s Tunisian Earrings, her Leysen Earrings and her Diamond Fringe Earrings.

UPDATE: On June 9th, Queen Mathilde (wearing Queen Fabiola’s Aquamarine Earrings,) was joined by King Philippe, King Albert and Queen Paola for the Final Concert of the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels.
