The Duchess of Cambridge, Royal Patron of the V&A, visited the Victoria and Albert Museum in London on May 19th, the first day of opening since lockdown to see some of the new exhibitions, beginning at the newly renovated Raphael Court to learn more about how the refreshed gallery and its new interpretive approach will transform the way visitors experience the Raphael Cartoons, loaned by the Royal Collection, before getting a look at the landmark 2021 exhibition ‘Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser’ and also the ‘Mad Hatters’ Tea Party’ exhibition. She also met a small group of museum staff who spoke about their experiences of working during a particularly challenging time for the museum sector. The Duchess of Cambridge, who has a degree is History of Art and did her dissertation on the photography of Lewis Carroll, has been the Royal Patron of the Victoria and Albert Museum since 2018 and has notably visited in 2017 and 2018. She said:

It’s going to be a good time to visit museums and galleries as they are not full of tourists coming in. I am very glad to be here today as we have had to cancel three previous visits because of COVID, so it’s nice to be here.’
