Queen and Prince of Wales at Frogmore House

The Queen and the Prince of Wales enjoyed a walk in the grounds of Frogmore House, Windsor, in two images released to mark the Easter weekend, nut taken on March 23rd. Due to the current restrictions, the annual Easter Service at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle will not go ahead, but the ease in rules has allowed the Queen and Prince to walk together near Windsor Castle, where the Queen has been spending lockdown. This was the first public meeting between the Queen and Prince since the Reception at the end of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s Royal Train Tour in December. The pictures were taken by Getty Images Photographer Chris Jackson, who also took the Prince’s 70th Birthday Portraits.

UPDATE: The Prince of Wales planted an oak at Windsor to start the nationwide ‘Queen’s Green Canopy‘ to mark the Queen’s historic Platinum Jubilee in 2022, in ‘Plant a Tree for the Jubilee’. In 70 years on the throne, the Queen has planted 1,500 new trees around the world.

As The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) initiative comes to end, The King and The Prince of Wales have planted an Acer tree in the gardens of Sandringham House. The King said:

It is hard to believe that two years have passed since my mother and I planted a tree in Windsor Great Park to mark the commencement of The Queen’s Green Canopy. As the second planting season draws to a close, and with it this vitally important initiative, I particularly wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone from across the United Kingdom who has helped to plant over three million trees to create an enduring legacy in Queen Elizabeth’s name.

This project has shown how simple, practical and positive gestures can make a big difference, and I can think of no more fitting tribute to Her late Majesty’s seventy-year reign.

  1. These are such excellent photos, maybe because they were taken at the spur of the moment instead of being posed. Mother and son look so comfortable, enjoying their walk amongst the flowers. They look ready to weather any storm together! Lovely!
