The Queen Mother was on an Official Visit to Paris to open the Franco-Scottish Exhibition on this day in 1956, her first visit to Paris since her big State Visit to France in 1938. After a meeting with President René Coty at the Élysée Palace, a visit to the Palace of Versailles and the Opening of the Franco-Scottish Exhibition at the Hôtel de Rohan, the Queen Mother (wearing Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet Tiara, the Crown Ruby Parure, and Queen Victoria’s Crown Ruby Brooch) was the Guest of Honour at a Dinner hosted by the French Government and the City of Paris.
