Crown Prince Akihito and Crown Princess Michiko in Nepal, 1960

King Mahendra and Queen Ratna of Nepal host Crown Prince Akihito and Crown Princess Michiko of Japan on this day in 1960, during of their Tour of Iran, Ethiopia, India, and Nepal (just weeks after their visit to the United States) and a few months following the Nepalese State Visit to Japan. The highlight of the visit was a State Banquet hosted by the King (in the Order of the Chrysanthemum) and Queen (wearing the Nepalese Diamond Tiara and the Order of the Precious Crown) in honour of the Crown Prince (in the Order of Ojaswi Rajanya) and Crown Princess (wearing the Pearl Sunburst Tiara and the Order of Ojaswi Rajanya) at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace in Katmandu.
