Captain Sir Tom Moore received his insignia of Knight Bachelor from the Queen in a special Investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on July 17th, the Queen’s first official in-person engagement since the start of the pandemic. The event was to honour the 100-year-old war veteran, who raised more than £32m for NHS charities. Captain Sir Tom said he “could never have imagined this would happen” and that it would be “the most special of days”.
