Happy 55th Anniversary to Prince and Princess Hitachi of Japan, who got married on this day in 1964 at the Imperial Palace of Tokyo. The match between Prince Masahito, younger son of Emperor Hirohito and Empress Nagako, and the aristocratic Hanako Tsugaru, daughter of Count Yoshitaka Tsugaru, was arranged by members of the Imperial Family, after the marriage of his elder brother, now Emperor Akihito to the commoner Empress Michiko. Prince and Princess Hitachi have no children and have loyally served Japan over the decades.
