The Christening of Prince Felipe Juan Pablo Alfonso de Todos los Santos, now King Felipe VI of Spain, at the Zarzuela Palace in Madrid on this day in 1968, being held by his great-grandmother and godmother, Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain, who returned to Spain for the first and last time since being exiled in 1931. Other Royal Attendees included Queen Frederica of Greece (maternal grandmother), the Count and Countess of Barcelona (paternal grandparents), Tsar Simeon and Queen Margarita of Bulgaria, and General Franco among the extended Spanish Royal Family and Spanish Aristocracy.

I love the photo of Queen Frederica smiling at her daughter and grandson. It must had been a very moving and exciting event for Queen Victoria Eugene!
