The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are on their first official Tour as a married couple, to Australia, Fiji, Tonga, and New Zealand, from October 16th to the 31st, mainly in connection with the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney. Right before the start of the visit the couple announced that the Duchess is expecting their first child.

The first day of the Tour began at Admiralty House, the official Sydney residence of the Governor-General and Viceregal Consort of Australia, Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove, who officially welcomed the Duke and Duchess in a Reception that included representatives from the eighteen countries who are participating in the 2018 Sydney Invictus Games. Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove also gifted the couple hats for themselves and a stuffed koala bear and a pair of UGG boots for their baby.

Afterwards, the Duke and Duchess traveled to Taronga Zoo to officially open the new Taronga Institute of Science and Learning, where they met two koalas and their joeys that are part of the Zoo’s breeding programme, and visited the laboratory to meet female conservation scientists who are working on efforts to reduce illegal wildlife trafficking. Following, the Royal Couple traveled across Sydney Harbour to the Sydney Opera House, view a rehearsal of Spirit 2018 by the Bangarra Dance Theatre, an internationally acclaimed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander modern dance company, before walking along the Opera House forecourt to meet members of the public, including 98-year old Daphne Dunne.

For the day events, the Duke wore a navy suit with blue tie. The Duchess wore the Karen Gee ‘Blessed’ Dress with the late Diana, Princess of Wales’ Butterfly Earrings (which I was the first to identify) and gold bracelet, later adding a trench coat. At the afternoon reception, the Duke wore a navy suit with a white shirt. The Duchess wore a green Brandon Maxwell dress again with the Butterfly Earrings and gold bracelet.
