Many of our readers were disappointed by the lack of glitter at the recent Luxembourg State Visit to France, so we are taking a look at the glittering events of the Danish State Visit to France, which started on this day in 1965.
On the first evening of the State Visit, President and Madame de Gaulle hosted a State Banquet at the Élysée Palace in honour of King Frederik and Queen Ingrid (in the Pearl Poiré Tiara and Parure). Afterwards, they attended a Gala Performance of ‘Carmen’ at the Paris Opera House.
The following evening, King Frederik and Queen Ingrid (wearing the Danish Ruby Parure Tiara) hosted a Return Banquet for President and Madame de Gaulle at the Danish Embassy in Paris.
On the last evening, King Frederik, Queen Ingrid (in the Floral Aigrette Tiara), and President and Madame de Gaulle attended a Gala Performance at the Palace of Versailles.
