Queen visits HMS Sutherland

Queen Elizabeth II, Head of the Armed Forces, visited the HMS Sutherland at West India Docks in London October 23rd. The ship is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her commissioning.

Upon arrival, the Queen was greeted by Commander Andrew Canale, MVO, RN, before attending a reception for the ship’s company, families, former commanding officers and affiliates. Afterwards, the Queen boarded HMS Sutherland and met personnel on the upper deck before attending a lunch prepared by Royal Navy chefs. Afterwards, the Queen, accompanied by Commander Canale, a former Equerry in Waiting, joined the ship’s company on the flight deck for a group photograph. After disembarking, the Queen was presented with a posy of flowers and departed following a ‘Man and Cheer Ship’.

The Queen wore a teal and black trimmed coat and hat, pairing her customary Three Strand Pearl Necklace with the Jardine Star Brooch.
