Royal Holiday in Norway, 1969

The British Royal Family were hosted by their Norwegian Royal Cousins on their Family Holiday to Norway, which started on this day in 1969!

The Queen, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and Princess Anne were greeted by their cousin King Olav V of Norway, then Crown Prince Harald and Crown Princess Sonja when they alighted from the Royal Yacht Britannia in Bergen. After reviewing the guard, the royal group visited Grieg’s House in Troldhaugen.

In the evening, they British royals attended a banquet given by King Olav at the Hakonshall in Bergen.

Other days included a private picnic near Trondheim, visits to Torvkaien, Glomstein, and the Aquarium in Bergen with little Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
