Queen Elizabeth II (wearing the Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara with Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee Necklace) and the Duke of Edinburgh chat with King Olav V of Norway following the King’s investiture as a Knight Companion of the Order of the Garter at Windsor Castle, England, on this day in 1959. King Olav V was the Queen’s first cousin once removed (through his grandparents and her great grandparents, King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra) and the Duke’s third cousin (through Queen Victoria and King Christin IX of Denmark.
