The Royal couple started their day at Royal Warrant Holders; Hamilton and Inches jewellers, where the Queen unveiled a plaque. They were presented with a Post-it note holder, a silver bowl , and a kilt pin for The Duke of Edinburgh. The Queen commented: ‘Oh, that’s very kind. (It’s) very useful.

Later, the Queen and Duke visited Musselburgh Racecourse to mark its 200th anniversary. HM unveiled a sculpture, and then sat down to watch the races. The Queen’s horses, Elementary and Forecaster, came third in their respective races. She also met Cruachan IV, the Shetland pony mascot of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The Queen was wearing a royal blue Karl Ludwig outfit – a wool crepe coat and a dress in flower-printed Jacquard silk. Her hat was by Angela Kelly. She paired her customary Three Strand Pearl Necklace with Prince Albert’s Sapphire Brooch. The Duke of Edinburgh wore a navy suit with a striped tie.
