Queen in Liverpool

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh visited the International Festival of Business in Liverpool on June 22nd. She appeared on the balcony of the Town Hall, and also opened a children’s hospital.  On June 21st, the Queen personally tweeted a message of thanks for her Birthday Wishes.

On June 21st, the Queen personally tweeted: “I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness. Elizabeth R.” The Royal Family twitter account also tweeted a picture of the Queen on her iPad, sending the tweet. This was the second time the Queen has tweeted, the first was in 2014.

The Queen and Duke arrived in Liverpool by train and were greeted by a large crowd at the train station. From there, the Queen and Duke made their way to theExhibition Centre for the International Festival of Business 2016. The Queen and Duke discovered the festival, which showcased showcasing and ExoMars Rover , built to explore Mars, built to explore Mars. They also visited the UK Trade & Invesment stand before officially opening the Exhibition Centre.

Later, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh traveled to the Town Hall, and waved from the balcony to the large crowd gathered underneath. The Queen also opened the Alder Hay children’s hospital.2 year old Lewis Connet burst into tears as soon as he presented HM’s bouquet. She attended a tea party and met patients in the wards.

The Queen wore a light pink coat over a floral dress and a a pink hat. She paired her customary  Three Strand Pearl Necklace with the The Pearl Trefoil Brooch. The Duke of Edinburgh wore a dark suit with a orange spotted tie.
