April has been a busy month for the Scandinavian Royal Families. In Sweden they welcomed a new Prince, while in Denmark they hosted a state visit and celebrated the Queen’s Birthday.
On April 19th, Princess Sofia, the wife of Prince Carl-Phillip, gave birth to a son in Stockholm at 6:25 pm. The Prince’s name and title will be announced on the 21st, and the traditional Te Deum service will be held on the 22nd.
Prince Carl-Phillip gave a little press conference outside the hospital. He said “For my wife and me, this is obviously a great day with a lot of emotion. Words are not able to describe the feeling.” Prince Carl-Phillip and Princess Sofia got married last June.
The Danish Royal Family hosted a State Visit from Mexico, and celebrated the 76th birthday of Queen Margrethe.
On April 13th H.E. President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico and Angélica Rivera arrived at Copenhagen Airport. they were welcomed by all of the members of the Danish Royal Family. Queen Margrethe II and the President inspected the Guard of Honour.

Later in the day, the Presidential couple visited Kronborg Castle with Crown Prince Fredrick and Crown Princess Mary. The two couples also visited the M / S Museum of Maritime.
In the evening, Queen Margrethe hosted a State Banquet at Fredensborg Castle, in Honour of the President. The Banquet was attended by most of the members of the Royal Family, including Prince Henrik, the consort of the Queen, who retired earlier this year.
Queen Margrethe wore a blue gown, with lace daisy top. She wore the Baden Palmette Tiara, with her grandmother, Queen Alexandrine’s, sapphire parure.
Crown Princess Mary wore a red gown, with her new necklace tiara, which she debuted last month. Princess Marie wore her Floral Tiara with a red lace gown. The Queens sister, Princess Bendikte, Princess of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleberg, also attended, wearing a green gown with her 18th birthday floral tiara.
On April 16th, Queen Margrethe celebrated her 76th Birthday. The Royal family appeared on the balcony of Amalienborg Palace. The Crown prince Couple were present with their four children. Prince Joachim and Princess Marie were also present with their children.
