Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon were in the midst of their tour of the United States of America on this day in 1965, visit the cities of New York, Washington DC, San Francisco and Los Angeles along with stays with friends in different parts of the country, including a ranch in Arizona, which earned quite a lot of bad press and barred the Princess from making a return visit in the 1970s. The visit will also be portrayed in the upcoming season of Netflix’s The Crown.
