Prinsjesdag 2019

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, accompanied by Queen Máxima, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, gave the annual Prinsjesdag (Prince’s Day or Budget Day) speech to the Dutch Parliament to outline the government’s agenda for the coming session on September 17th in the Hague.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima rode in the Glass Carriage from Noordeinde Palace to the Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights), followed by Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien in another carriage, being watched by Princess Beatrix from the window of a building. Upon arrival, the King and Queen were welcomed by officials before making their way to the Hall, where the King Willem-Alexander delivered his annual Budget Speech to the Parliament (read HERE), outlining the government’s agenda for the coming session. Afterwards, the Royal Couples returned in the carriages to Noordeinde Palace, where they waved from the balcony to the crowds assembled below.

King Willem-Alexander wore Morning Dress with the miniature pin of the Military William Order, the highest honour of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Queen Maxima wore a Jan Taminiau gown with a Philip Treacy Hat, earrings, stomacher, and bracelet from the Mellerio Ruby Parure, with the Sash and Star of the Order of the Netherlands Lion, her highest Dutch honour.

Prince Constantijn wore Morning Dress with the miniature pin of the Order of the Netherlands Lion. Princess Laurentien wore a pink Hardies gown with a Evelien Gentis-Smit hat and pieces from Queen Maxima’s tanzanite suite, with her Sash and Star of the Order of the House of Orange, her highest Dutch honour.
