The Duke and Duchess started their visit at the Fire Station, one of Sunderland’s most iconic buildings, recently converted into a music and arts hub, where they met members of the local community, enjoyed colourful performances of music, dance and theatre from local children and young people, and officially opened The Fire Station.
The next stop in Sunderland for TRH is a visit to the #NorthernSpire, a new bridge over the River Wear that will improve links between the Port of Sunderland & the city centre. pic.twitter.com/eQVmDnVUFg

The Duke and Duchess met local children whose generation will benefit from the bridge in the future, before officially crossing the bridge and meeting the engineers and construction workers.
Wow! That’s a really cool bridge! I’m going to add it to my wish list of places to visit when I return to the UK. 🙂
