Christening of Prince Gabriel of Sweden

Prince Gabriel of Sweden, second son of Prince Carl-Phillip and Princess Sofia, was christened in the Chapel of Drottningholm Palace on December 1st. He was born at Danderyd Hospital on August 31st.

Prince Gabriel was christened in the Royal Chapel of Drottningholm Palace at noon. The ceremony was officiated by Archbishop Emeritus Anders Wejryd, Bishop Johan Dalman and the Pastor of the Royal Family, Michael Bjerkhagen. Prince Gabriel godparents are Princess Madeleine, Oscar Kylberg, Carolina Pihls, and Thomas de Toledo Sommerlath. After the service, the King bestowed the Order of Seraphim on his grandson. Later, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia hosted a reception at the Palace. During the reception, the Prince laid in King Karl XV’s cradle.

Prince Gabriel wore the 1906 christening gown with the sash of the Order of Seraphim. Princess Sofia wore the Dalarna folk costume with the King’s Portrait Brooch. Prince Carl-Phillip wore uniform with the sash and star of the Order of Seraphim, the neck badge of the Order of the Polar Star, and his medals. Queen Silvia wore a blue Georg et Arend dress and coat with pearls and the King’s Portrait Brooch. King Carl Gustaf wore wore uniform with the sash and star of the Order of Seraphim, the neck badge and star of the Order of the Polar Star, and his medals.

Crown Princess Victoria wore red skirt and jacket with the King’s Portrait Brooch. Prince Daniel wore Morning Dress with the pin of the Order of Seraphim. Princess Madeleine wore Valentino dress with a pink coat, pink headband, pearl earrings, and the King’s Portrait Brooch, while her husband, Chris O’Neil, wore morning dress.
