Prince Harry at Invictus Games 2017

Prince Harry is in Toronto to attend the 3rd Invictus Games from September 22nd to the 29th. The Games, founded by the Prince in 2015, will see injured service personnel from 15 countries compete in 12 sports over eight days.

September 22

On September 22nd, Prince Harry attended the True Patriot Love Conference at the Scotia Plaza during a pre Invictus Games event, where he learned about veterans affairs and the impact of injury. Later, Prince Harry dropped in on athletes at their final training sessions at the PanAm Centre.

On September 23rd, Prince Harry visited the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health to see their world leading work in mental health, and heard how they are pioneering treatment, driving research & educating the next generation of mental health professionals.

Afterwards, he met with First Lady Melania Trump of the United States, and then visited the Invictus Toronto Driving Challenge, where he was driven by competitor Dennis Siesing, and later the Children’s challenge, where the Prince was driven by 5-year old Daimy Gommers. Later, Prince Harry presented medals to the winners of the Jaguar Land Rover driving challenge, before meeting Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and the Governor General and Viceregal Consort of Canada.

In the evening, Prince Harry attended the Opening Ceremony of the 2017 Toronto Invictus Games at the Air Canada Centre. After speeches by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other officials, Prince Harry gave a speech, marking the opening of the games and the end of his speech by saying; “You are proving anything is possible, you are Invictus.” Also present was his girlfriend, Meghan Markle.

September 24

On September 24th, Prince Harry visited and cheered on the competitors on the first day of athletics. In the evening, he presented The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Gold Award of achievement to young Canadians.

September 25

On the morning of September 25th, Prince Harry attended the opening session of the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Mental Health Research conference, where he gave a speech saying: “I am passionate about the role which sport can play in the recovery of body and mind.” In the afternoon, Prince Harry and his girlfriend, Meghan Markle, attended a Wheelchair Tennis match.

September 26

On the morning of September 26th, Prince Harry attended cycling time trials, where he presented the women’s medals. Later, he visited golf competitors, attended a reception at the CN Tower, and watched an indoor rowing competition.

September 27

On September 27th, Prince Harry attended the road racing, cycling, and sitting volleyball games where he presented the medals.

September 28

On the morning of September 28th, Prince Harry made a a surprise appearance at the Toronto WE day event, where he gave an inspiring speech. Later, he cheered on the wheelchair rugby team and presented the medals to the Danish victors.

September 29

On September 29th, Prince Harry visited Fort York to support the teams competing in archery. Later, he joined former US President Barrack Obama at a wheelchair basketball match. Prince Harry also watched a swimming competition, where he presented medals.

September 30

On the morning of September 30th, Prince Harry viewed the wheelchair basketball finals, where he presented the gold and silver medals, and then joined the friends and family of Invictus Games competitors for a group photo. In the evening, Prince Harry gave a speech at the closing ceremony.  Meghan Markle was also present.
