Order of Thistle Service 2016

The Queen and members of the British Royal family attended the annual Order of the Thistle service at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh on July 7th. The Queen was joined by the Duke of Edinburgh, Duke of Cambridge, and Princess Royal. The Order of the Thistle is the second highest order in the United Kingdom, after the Order of the Garter

Hundreds of well-wishers lined the Royal Mile to catch a glimpse of the Royal party as they entered St Giles’ Cathedral. The Queen and Duke led the members of the Royal family and the Scottish men and women who have held public office or who have contributed significantly to national life.

The Queen wore a white gown with her diamond cluster earrings, the Mantle, Collar, St. Andrew, and the Star of the Order of the Thistle. The Duke of Edinburgh wore morning dress with the Mantle, Collar, St. Andrew, and the Star of the Order of the Thistle.

The Duke of Cambridge wore morning dress with the Mantle, Collar, St. Andrew, and the Star of the Order of the Thistle. The Princess Royal wore a sea green gown with a pearl choker, pearl drop earrings, the Mantle, Collar, St. Andrew, and the Star of the Order of the Thistle.
