The Honourable Margaret Rhodes, a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, passed away on Friday night following a short illness, aged 91. She was a childhood friend and bridesmaid of the Queen, and the niece and lady-in-waiting of the Queen Mother. King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, one of the longest-reigning monarchs in history, died on October 13th in Bangkok. The beloved monarch, regarded as semi-divine by the Thai people, reigned during a period of great change for Thailand. However, after his death, the future of the monarchy is uncertain in Thailand, as Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn has unexpectedly said he was not ready to take the throne, and asked for some time to mourn with the Thai people before his appointment as King. Queen Anne of Romania, beloved consort of King Micheal, who died on at the start of this month, was buried in Bucharest on August 13. Queen Anne’s body had been laying in State at different locations throughout Romania for the past few days. She was the first member of the royal family to receive a State Funeral since Queen Marie, who died in 1938. Continue reading
HM Queen Anne of Romania died on the 1st of August 2016, at the Hospital in Morges, Switzerland, at 1.45 p.m. Queen Anne was the consort of King Micheal of Romania, and spent the majority of her life in exile in Switzerland.
