Habsburg Pearl and Diamond Bandeau

Happy 25th Anniversary to Archduke Karl and Archduchess Francesca von Habsburg! In honour of their anniversary, we are taking a look at the wedding Tiara. An antique bandeau made of diamond motifs with pearls, this tiara is reputed to have been once owned by Empress ‘Sissi’ of Austria, though no photographic proof exists. A similar (if not the same) bandeau was worn by Princess Adelheid of Prussia, née Saxe-Meiningen, aunt of Archduchess Regina. (h/t to Stefan) Continue reading

Funeral of King Michael of Romania

Members of the Romanian Royal Family, Foreign Royalty and Heads of State attended the State Funeral of King Michael of Romania on December 16th. King Michael died in Switzerland on December 5th, at the age of 96. He first became King in 1927, and though he hasn’t been the reigning Head of State since 1947, the Government is giving the late King a State Funeral, in line with the plans to give the Royal Family Official Status in Romania. Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in Austria- Day 2

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall completed their two-day visit to Austria on April 6th. Hanover Emerald Laurel Wreath Tiara

The magnificent Royal Heirloom that was a sentimental gift to a German Empress, before being given as a wedding present to her Hanoverian daughter, who gave it as a wedding present to her Greek daughter-in-law, and despite being sold, it remains in royal possession, being owned by the former wife of the pretender to the Austrian throne, the Emerald Laurel Wreath Tiara certainly has a distinguished royal history.
