Red Cross Ball, 1933

The Duke (later King George VI) and Duchess of York (later Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother) joined members of High Society for a Red Cross Ball at the Dorchester Hotel in London on this day in 1933, 90 years ago, to raise funds for the British Red Cross.

In the middle of November, the Red Cross Ball was held at the Dorchester Hotel, London. It was held to raise funds for the British Red Cross, and is attended by important people in Society. In the picture, the Duke of York is talking to Lady Stanley at Dinner. The British Red Cross is a branch of the international agency for the alleviation of the sick and wounded, especially in war.
