King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima in Germany

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands paid heir Annual Regional Working Visit to the German Federal States of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland from October 10th to the 12th.

On the morning of the first day, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima were welcomed at the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate in Mainz by Prime Minister Malu Dreyer and her husband Klaus Jensen, before a Luncheon, which was followed by a visit to Oberwesel to talk with German and Dutch representatives of port companies, industry, inland shipping and government about sustainability and innovation of the inland shipping chain during a boat trip on the Rhine. In the afternoon, the King and Queen visited Bernkastel-Kues on the river Moselle, to view a vineyard and talk to Dutch and German winegrowers and researchers about cooperation, climate and technological developments in the wine sector. In the evening, the Royal Couple attended a Trade Dinner with the Dutch trade delegation and their German counterparts in Trier.

The following morning, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima visited the Porta Nigra in Trier, which was followed by a visit to the Dom St. Pieter and the adjacent Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk. They also visited an exhibition in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum about the life and work of Karl Marx, as the town marks the 200th Anniversary of his birth. That afternoon, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima arrived in Saarland where they were welcomed at the State Chancellery in Saarbrücken by Prime Minister Tobias Hans and his wife Tanja Hans, followed by a lunch at the Stadtschloss Saarbrücken. Later, the Royal Couple joined the Safe and Digital Industry economic mission at the Saarbrücken University, before visiting Saarlouis to see a practical example of the decentralization of energy production. In the evening, the King and Queen attended a dinner at Schloss Saareck in Mettlach.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima started their final morning at the Industrial World Heritage Völklinger Hütte, where they toured the old factory complex and spoke to the participants. The Royal Couple’s final engagement was at the University Clinic in Homburg, where they met with the economic mission Life Sciences & Health and the German-Dutch cooperation in the field of eHealth and care for the elderly was discussed and demonstrated.

On Day 1, King Willem-Alexander wore a navy suit with a Ferragamo Tie, while Queen Máxima wore a grey and mustard Natan outfit and Fabienne Delvigne hat with coloured Pearl Earrings, and an Antique Pearl Brooch, and the miniature badge of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the evening, she changed into a heavy Natan dress with her tanzanite earrings.

On Day 2, Queen Máxima repeated a Natan dress with a red Fabienne Delvigne turban and dimple hoop earrings. In the evening, she changed into another Natan repeated dress, paired with emerald and diamond earrings, diamond riviere, a large Emerald Pendant and the miniature badge of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. On, the final day, Queen Máxima wore a final repeated Natan dress and Fabienne Delvigne hat.
