Infanta Cristina Verdict
Infanta Cristina of Spain, sister of King Felipe, has been found not guilty of corruption charges following a lengthy trial for corruption and money fraud. However, her husband, Iñaki Urdangarin, has been convicted and sentenced to six years and three months and she has been fined 265, 000 euros. The couple were accused of defrauding taxpayers of funds through embezzlement and money laundering in excess of £4.5 million through the Noos Institute, a non-profit organisation. Infanta Cristina was a member of the board, and Iñaki served as the director. The couple have for children and were married in 1997. Continue reading
