Danish State Visit to Norway, 1960

The Norwegian Royal Family host their cousins King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark on this day in 1960, at the end of a three-day State Visit to Norway, which had been the first State Visit of King Olav’s Reign. Highlights included the glittering State Banquet hosted by King Olav (in the Order of the Elephant), Princess Astrid (wearing Queen Josefina’s Diamond Tiara), and Crown Prince Harald (in the Order of the Elephant) at the Royal Palace of Oslo in honour of King Frederik (in the Order of St. Olav) and Queen Ingrid (wearing the Danish Ruby Parure and the Order of the Elephant).

There was also a grand Gala Performance at the National Theatre in Oslo, attended by King Olav, King Frederik, Queen Ingrid (in the Pearl Poiré Parure), Princess Astrid (wearing the Norwegian Emerald Parure), and Crown Prince Harald.
