The Queen was joined by the Duke of Cambridge (Earl of Strathearn in Scotland) and Princess Royal for the Order of Thistle Service at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh on July 6th. The Order of Thistle is the highest Order in Scotland and the second highest Order in the United Kingdom, and it’s service is held every two years.

I love these elaborate costumes! Those hats with their feathers are awesome! 🙂 I only wish there was a bigger number of participants. Maybe they’re not members? I mean, I would be surprised if the Duke of York, the Earl of Wessex, the Duke of Gloucester, etc. are not members, but they seem to go only for the Order of the Garter ceremony.
They are not members.

The Queen is the Sovereign of the Order, and the Duke and Princess Royal are Extra Knights and Ladies Companion!
