TM King Carl XVI Gustav and Queen Silvia of Sweden started their 4-day State Visit to Bhutan on June 8th. This is the first time TM have visited the small Himalayan country, which was visited by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge earlier this year.
The King and Queen of Sweden were received by Princess Kezang Choden, Princess Dechen Yangzom Wangchuck ( sisters of the King of Bhutan) and senior officials at the Paro International Airport. TM then traveled to Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan.
King Carl XVI Gustav and Queen Silvia were welcomed by King Jigme and Queen Jutsun of Bhutan in a traditional welcome ceremony at the Tashichodzong fortress. Later, there was a Royal Audience in the Throne room of the fortress. In the evening, the Swedish monarchs were hosted by the Bhutanese counterparts at a private dinner at the Lingkana Palace.
